I was watching the Jays in the garden this morning … busy burrowing acorns and then placing leaves over them to hide any bare patches. They carry the acorns in their expandable crop (up to 6 at a time) and then regurgitate them one at a time when they find a suitable hiding place. They will retrieve most of them when food is short in the winter. Who can not marvel at that flash of blue on their wings !
